The-Glade / Firmament
The predecessor for Berlin-based Firmament was online-only retail project The-Glade.com which was developed as Beinghunted’s official online shop in 2004. With the need for a brick-and-mortar store and relocation from Munich to Berlin, Firmament was opened as private shopping space in the Mitte district in 2006. Building on the strong international ties from the Beinghunted network, the store secured accounts with some of the world’s most respected brands such as Comme des Garçons Junya Watanabe, Undercover, Acronym, Nike Tier0/NikeLab, Supreme, Stone Island Shadow, visvim, WTAPS, Bianca Chandôn, White Mountaineering, New Balance, Arc’teryx Veilance, Converse, adidas Originals or Original Fake – a joint project by renowned artist KAWS and Medicom Toy Company.
In 2010 the store was relocated to a street-level space. Its multi-purpose front room, designed as a platform for showcases and presentations, saw a multitude of elaborate retail installations and launch events over the years. Firmament hosted global events for Nike, Vans, Casio G-Shock, New Balance and Stone Island to name just a few.
With a strong visual language and focus on European cultural assets, Firmament’s own small line of apparel was well received and some of the graphic T-shirts became collectors’ items. Collaborations include the Stüssy 30th anniversary T-shirt series, the New Balance CT300, a joint design with Japanese label WTAPS, or headwear designed in cooperation with New Era.
